403,870 Shopify sessions. 199,915 of them bots. Counting them, the middle store's conversion rate read 34% lower than it really was. Before you redesign anything, find out who your visitors are.
Your rate may not have dropped
A conversion rate is orders divided by visits. When bots pile into the visits, the rate falls while your real shoppers buy exactly as before. In a sample of 403,870 store sessions from 14 to 26 October 2026, 49% were bots, and they were 9 of 3,700 sessions with a purchase. Shopify started filtering the bots it can identify in September 2026, and it does not show what it removed or what it missed. How much of your Shopify traffic is bots has the full count.
The three usual reasons
Bots in your visits
Visits that never scroll or tap make the rate look worse. Your orders do not change.
Something broke
On one store an app update turned every Add to cart button into a preorder with a weeks-long wait, while the stock sat on the shelf. Sales fell for weeks before anyone noticed.
The traffic changed
A new ad brings visitors who leave in seconds, while shoppers from search buy as usual. The average hides it.
Smaller things add up too: a chat bubble over the size chart on phones, or a button that does nothing when tapped. Those are dead clicks, and the Shopify conversion audit checklist lists the rest.
What Harvv does
Shopify tells you the rate went down. Session replay tools record visits so you can sit and watch them. Harvv reads every visit for you and tells you which of these it is, in plain English, in Slack, Claude or ChatGPT. One line of code, 41 KB gzipped, and no customer data.
How it works
- Enter your email above and paste the line of code into your store.
- Give it a day of real visits.
- Open the link we email you and read why your rate moved.
Questions people ask
Why is my Shopify conversion rate dropping?
The usual reasons are three: more of your visitors are bots, something on the store broke after an update, or the traffic itself changed (a new ad, a new audience). In a sample of 403,870 Shopify sessions, counting bots made the middle store's conversion rate read 34% low. Check who your visitors are before you redesign anything.
Why does my Shopify store get traffic but no sales?
Often the traffic is not people. Bots load product pages and leave: in our sample they were 9 of 3,700 sessions with a purchase. When the visitors are real, the next suspects are a button that does nothing on phones and a popup that covers the page.
Is Harvv really free?
Yes. The Free plan covers up to 3 sites, about 2,500 visits a month in all, with no card. You get the code right away, and a link to see your results once visits come in.
Will it slow my store down?
About 41KB gzip (36KB brotli), and it loads after the page has drawn, so shoppers do not wait for it.
Does Harvv collect my customers’ data?
No names, no email addresses, no card details and nothing anyone types. Harvv records what people do on the page, such as what they tap and how far they scroll, not who they are.
